Murdering Every Bit of a Monster [Part 1]

-- Dedicated to the memory of Rooker --
The night seems a little bit darker, and the blood less sweet.

The pounding rain could hardly be heard inside the theater, the cheers and whooping of the ecstatic throng was simply too powerful for mother nature to compete with.  The grand party could put caligula to shame in its depravity and perhaps Genghis Khan to shame with its blood lust.  Clans of vampires from Torreador to Brujah intermingled here, clapping shoulders and toasting with the copious amounts of blood that seemed to flow limitlessly from the rooms below in large silver goblets.  On the stage was the figure that had brought it all to this point, perhaps the most powerful vampire to walk the earth since Cain first tasted the sweet blood of his brother.  His name was Vernon.  And he took stock at this moment with a smirk on his misaligned face, erect in his satin black robes and with an heir of triumph that went beyond words.  However, although the jubilant atmosphere had put him in a good mood, there was one thing that worried him, and that was the fact that his third and last necro-lantern had just been snuffed out not twenty minutes ago.

Kaytoss's friends with grim faces assessed the situation from the inside of a car across the street from the illuminated theater.  Haggard and most of them badly bruised, they had been through alot over the past two months.  The hunt for Vernon had taken its toll on each one of them; friends, love and the chance for a long and happy un-life had all been destroyed in some manner or another.  The only thing that they each knew for certain was that whatever their outcome the pale faced menace that had all but destroyed the Camirilla would be made to answer for his crimes.
"Check around back, there is no way we're getting through that" Tony said pointing to the growing crowd of infected humans pounding on the concrete and rebar barricade surrounding the entryway to the theater.  Their unwholesome appearance made all the worse by the black rain that washed over their bodies.  "if it turns out that's the only door we can have Darren and Roec fly us up to the roof"  He gestured upward to the roof of the car where his stony winged companion sat silently watching the scene.
"I don't know if putting our fates in the hands of Roec and Darren is our best option"  Said Rick, the Malkavian sitting in the drivers seat next to him.  Darren from the back shrugged, admitting to his own recklessness.
Weaving slowly around an overturned truck in the middle of the road and with the headlights off, Rick Brown drove the group to the back of the theater.  Behind the building the scene was much the same as the front with a large throng of infected pounding fruitlessly at the barricades.  But what was different was that along the concrete and marble facade of the side of the building were a couple of Brujah.  Dressed in black denim and adorned with Watchdog symbols, they beat the infected humans back with large improvised cudgels.  This it would seem was where the partygoers were getting in.
Darren did a quick check of his ammunition and tightened the straps to his gear in the back seat, itching to get into the thick of combat.  "This ain't a time for finesse" he said surveying the scene "I say we go in and crash this party."
All eyes then turned to Giuseppe as Darren finished speaking.  The large Italian had repeatedly been somewhat of a buffer to Darrens bloody tendencies, but in this case he seemed to silently echo the extremist's sentiment.  "Shit's gonna fly soon enough.  I say we take a walk in and see what happens, if they immediately attack, so be it.  If not, we can get a little closer to Vernon."
Weapons at the ready the 6 stepped out into the tempest and made their way over to the two bludgeon wielding Brujah.
"Bout time you showed up, bout damn time!"  one of them shouted while bringing the spiked bat down with a crunch onto one of the flialing arms, groping at the air through a gap in the concrete barrier.  "get in there so we can close this shit up!"
Fighting the urge to slay all who wore the symbol of the Watchdog, the group cautiously passed the two and entered the brightly lit party within.

  1. I never met the man who played Rooker, but if it hadn't been for him, we might not all be playing your Vampire campaign. I'm sure he'd be proud of what you've done with it.
