The night began with the disconcerting realization that the night outside was in fact daylight, blacked out by the storm clouds billowing over the city and that all electrical and phone systems were down. Rick Brown got a suprise visit from the grey hooded figure, who after setting Darren off into a trigger happy frenzy that ended in nothing but Tony getting hurt, revealed himself to be a vampire named Hyperion, long forgotten progeny of Dredlin.
Hyperion : “Have you ever wondered why there are no other second generation vampires walking around? It’s because we are a jelous power hungry group. When diablerie first was discovered, it all but ruined us. All of the first diciples of Cain were hunted down, my sire included. But in that moment when I had struck him down, and was a breath away from being once removed from Cain himslef I had mercy. I destroyed his mind, and left his life intact igorant to his true power.”
Just then the inopportune arrival of former Watchdog Harvic sends the situation into chaos, as Hyperion convinced that Harvic is in league with vernon attacks him. The PC's intervene, but lose out in convincing Hyperion that they are on the same side. The fish faced Harvic relays information that the only area of the city unaffected by the power-outages is the Belasco Theater on Broadway, and that there seems to be a foul celebration taking place.
Before leaving Finchley gives the group one last option to leave the city. Wilde Violet is the only other vampire besides Finchley to take up the offer.
Finchley : “Alright gentlmen, things are looking rather grim. I have a few friends that are heading west into less populated areas and can arrange passage out of the city. This may be the last chance we have to stay alive. I know Kaytoss is staying to see things through to the bitter end, but I'm not a fighter. ”
Lending his wings to the mission, Roec flies Giuseppe out to the northern edge of the city in order to light the Lunar candle given to him by the Alpha werewolf earlier in the chapter. They encounter a variety of hostile infected humans and consider long and hard what the best way to display the candle while simultaneously protecting it from the raging black storms. Only time will tell if the candle burns bright enough...
The One Times Square building is bristling with guards and barricaded from attacks. It is breached by the PC's by ramming the much beloved gold Toyota Sienna into the front doors. Darren, Rick and Tony run interference as Oliver takes up a sniper position on a nearby building. Alma Trist, Jack Eddows, and Evil Kaytoss are on the prowl, and are more than a match for the three assaulting the main building. Infected mortals waylay Oliver and had the potential to kill him, but thankfully Giuseppe and Roec make it back to the scene and rescue him. From the nearby building Oliver and Roec rain destruction on the nearby Lantern. Evil Kaytoss makes a dash to stop the ranged assault, dealing massive amounts of damage to Roec and Giuseppe but is ultimately sent back to the ethereal plane as the Lantern is destroyed.
